Mexico's Health Care System
The health care system of the United States faces many problems. From exorbitant costs to limited access to corruption, it often seems that the health care system in the United States is in need of a complete renovation.
People in the United States get so caught up in addressing its health care problems that they do not see a comparative picture. Understanding the health care systems of foreign nations might help policymakers and the public in general find new and innovative ways to fix the U.S. health care system. While there has been much talk of Canada’s and some talk of Europe’s health care system here in the U.S., that talk has been limited, and there have been no attempts to understand the health care systems of other nations.
One nation people in the U.S. should examine is Mexico. Mexico’s health care system also faces many problems. In Mexico, there is a large divide between the rich and the poor, and this divide manifests itself in the health care system. Additionally, the health care system is different for private sector and public sector workers. For the private sector, both employers and employees put money into a system, and there are special clinics, doctors, etc. specifically for private sector workers. For public sector workers, there are free services for poor workers, while others are required to pay as per their financial abilities.
This is how the Mexican health care system works. In some ways it is similar to that of the U.S., while in other ways it is very different.
