Plans to Make Health Care More Affordable

President George Bush has known that health care in the United States is a problem because many people cannot afford it. He has worked tirelessly and formed plans to help ensure that more people in the United States can afford health care. He has had a number of proposals. They are:
  • Dedicating Congress to fix Medicare and Medicaid. As the president notes, spending on these programs is growing faster than the U.S.’s ability to pay for them.
  • Broadening health-care savings accounts, which allow people to save for health care without paying taxes and move their accounts with them even when they change jobs.
  • Allowing small businesses and civic and community groups to band together in associated health plans to get discounted health care rates, just like large businesses and organizations do.
  • Urging the expansion of health information technology so that medical information can be used more effectively and efficiently to provide better medical treatment. The President has planned to make electronic medical records available by 2014 and has also taken steps to protect people’s privacy and maintain security.
  • Creating a more transparent health care system. Transparency in the health care system will allow for better accountability, restrain costs, and improve efficiency.
Clearly, the current President has thought of some plans to help more people afford health insurance in the United States. But these plans have not all been implemented yet, and health care is still a major problem.
