Option 1
What is Medicare?
Everyone is always searching for the cheapest health care coverage they can find, sometimes sacrificing coverage that would greatly benefit themselves and their families. Most middle class families make enough money to buy health insurance, but many Americans, especially older citizens, are finding it difficult to pay their bills while keeping good health insurance. Many turn to the government for help.
Medicare Coverage Eligibility
Medicare is a government health care plan that covers a select group of people. Many wonder if they are eligible, what the coverage includes, and when they can start receiving it. Some key requirements to keep in mind when considering Medicare:
- You must be 65 or older to be considered eligible.
- If you are younger than 65, but have a select group of disabilities, you may be eligible.
- If you have been diagnosed with End-Stage Renal Disease and require dialysis or a kidney transplant, you are eligible at any age.
Medicare is split into two parts: Hospital Insurance and Medical Insurance. Hospital Insurance is usually paid for by the government, while the Medical Insurance usually has a monthly fee. However, the monthly fee is substantially lower than private Medical Insurance. Medicare is also less flexible than private health insurance.
