What is AHIP?

AHIP stands for America's Health Insurance Plans. It is lobby group that represents 1,300 companies that provide to health insurance to 200 million people in the United States. AHIP companies provide a variety of health insurance, from regular, to dental, to long-term, to disability, as well as others.

AHIP conducts research, holds conferences, advocates for health insurance companies to help them satisfy their interests. In the 2006-7 year, it spent about $7 million on lobbying. AHIP provides health insurance companies a "unified voice" so that, it asserts, more people in the United States can have access to affordable health care.
